Why a blog about anthropology?
Many anthropologists will tell you that anthropology classes should be in everyone's basic education. But in Sweden, interest in anthropology is dwindling, folks! Has dwindled even. Why? Perhaps because (it seems) that nobody knows what it is, or what anthropologists do, and therefore, don't see the point in studying anthropology at university. The purpose of this blog is to demystify anthropology and show why it's a great discipline.
This blog is my attempt to answer the question "so what do anthropologists actually do?" and get more people interested in anthropology (especially in Scandinavia!) Among the posts you will find interviews with anthropologists and students, discussions like how to get a job with a degree in anthropology, what employers should know about anthropology, anthropology news and debates, as well as information about conferences, PhD opportunities, etc.
I hope the blog will also show what it's like to do a PhD, and help those of you who are already PhD students who want to remind themselves (when they are doing everything and anything except writing their dissertation) that they are not alone. I want the blog to be a resource for everyone, whether you're thinking about studying anthropology, are already a student, or even already an anthropologist.
Please read the blog's first post to get a better understanding of the its objectives.
